Virgin America to expand to Chicago O'Hare (ORD) from Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO)

Virgin America announced today that it wants to start service from LAX and SFO to Chicago O'Hare (ORD).  ORD has limits on the number of allowed flights because of congestion and so FAA approval is required for new flights.  Don't expect new service until November when ORD's new runway should open more takeoff/landing slots.

Virgin America plans on starting with eight daily flights from ORD - four to/from SFO and four to/from LAX.  This is an aggressive move by Virgin America considering that SFO and LAX to ORD are main hub to hub routes of American and United.
