Promo Alert: Get AA elite status with only half the normal flying on American Airlines

Today American Airlines announced a new promotion to encourage frequent flyers to start or keep flying American.  You will earn DOUBLE elite qualifying miles for all American Airlines flights (on American Airlines metal) flown between today, April 16, and June 15.  Elite qualifying miles are not miles that you can use for redeeming awards but are miles used towards earning elite status.  With this promo it is now easy to quickly earn elite status with American.

By getting double elite qualifying miles, it means you can earn AA Gold with 12.5K miles flown, AA Plat with 25K miles flown, and AA EXP with 50K miles flown.  If you fly First class or other high fares that earn extra elite bonuses you can get the status with even less flying.
