Daily Travel Tip: How to save your trip photos from loss while traveling - bring several memory cards
Do you use one memory card for all of your photos when you travel? Don't. You are inviting disaster. The card could get damaged or corrupt. Your card is probably in your camera. So if your camera gets lost or stolen you just lost all your trip pictures.
There is an easy solution. Buy some extra memory cards. They are cheap. Then every day or two remove the memory card from your camera and swap it out with an unused one.
If you are really paranoid, do what a lot of pros do and swap between memory cards while taking important pictures so that you have some pictures on different cards.
If you can get on the Internet while traveling, you should also consider uploading them (or at least the important ones) to a high resolution photo website like www.smugmug.com.
And if you travel with your computer, download your pictures from your memory cards to your computer daily as an extra backup. But don't delete the pictures from your memory card after transferring to your computer. You have extra cards so memory space isn't an issue. By having your pictures on your computer and spread across multiple cards you will significantly reduce the chance of losing all of your precious trip photos.
