WestJet will add fuel surcharge on all flights:

WestJet will begin adding fuel surcharges to all flights starting Tuesday, the company has announced.

The Calgary based airline says the surcharges will raise ticket prices by $20 for short-haul flights, $30 for medium range flights and $45 for long-haul flights.

Southwest Airlines just borrowed $600 million from a group of European banks and Citibank.

"...spokeswoman Beth Harbin cited uncertainty about the economy, tight U.S. credit markets and the high price of fuel.

"We thought it would be wise to bolster our cash position," she said."

Virgin America wants to expand to Chicago O'Hare from LAX and SFO. They will need to get FAA approval because of the congestion at ORD.  Best bet is they start service in the 4th Quarter of 2008 after ORD's new runway opens.

 

AP reports that Mesa Air looks for shareholders' OK to offer more shares.

The Phoenix-based carrier is expected to ask permission Tuesday at its annual shareholders meeting to sell as much as $37.8 million in new common stock.
